Meme Yanetsk Gives OBI Graduation Keynote Speech

OLEAN — The Olean Business Institute handed out 24 diplomas at its 52nd annual commencement ceremony honoring the Class of 2013 on Saturday afternoon at the Olean High School auditorium.


Additionally, several graduates were honored for outstanding achievement in their courses at OBI.
Before handing out diplomas, Jennifer Madison, president and chief executive officer of Olean Business Institute, offered a quick word of direction to the graduates as they embark into the next chapter of their lives.


“You’re not done learning. Learning is never done,” she said. “It’s a lifelong process.”
Keynote speaker Meme Yanetsko, chief operating officer at the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, offered 13 tips for the future. Among them, she stressed not obsessing about the future and always taking time to listen.


“Go where your heart leads you,” she added. “The key to living a happy, healthy and fulfilling life is to find what gives you joy in life, what wakes you up on the slow days, what gives you joy, and what makes you come alive.”

February: Christie Middlebrough

Christie Middlebrough of Bradford, Pennsylvania has been named student-of-the-month at OBI for February 2013. Christie is a graduate of York County High School. She is enrolled in the Paralegal Associate degree program at OBI. Christie will graduate in May 2013 with an Associate degree in the Paralegal program. Christie has been named to the Dean’s List during her time as an OBI student.

December: MacKenzie Brooks

MacKenzie Brooks of Little Valley, New York has been awarded student-of-the-month at OBI for December 2012. MacKenzie is a graduate of Cattaraugus Little Valley Central School. She recently graduated with Associate degrees in OBI’s Business Administration/Management and Business Administration/Accounting programs. MacKenzie was named to the Dean’s List for all of her semesters at OBI.

November: Skyler Marshall

Skyler Marshall of Coudersport, Pennsylvania has been named student-of-the-month at OBI for November 2012. Skyler is a graduate of Coudersport Junior Senior High School. She is enrolled in the Health Information Specialist Associate degree program at OBI. Skyler will graduate in May 2014 with an Associate degree in the Health Information Specialist program. Skyler was awarded the Senior Scholarship at OBI for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters...

October: Trisha Priest

Trisha Priest of Otto, New York has been named student-of-the-month at OBI for October 2012. Trisha is a graduate of Pioneer Central High School. She is enrolled in the Business Administration/Accounting Associate degree program at OBI. Trisha will graduate in December with an Associate degree in the Accounting program. Since Trisha began her studies at OBI, she has earned a place on the Dean’s List each semester. She is also a recipient of the Cattaraugus County Fireman’s Association Scholarship and the Daniel R. McCarthy Scholarship...
